The city of Southfield, in partnership with the city of Lathrup Village, Southfield Public Schools, Optimist Club of Southfield-Lathrup Village and Metro Detroit Youth Clubs, will present a virtual Teen Mental Wellness Community Forum on Thursday, December 1 at 6 p.m.
The free forum, Let’s Talk About Youth Mental Wellness, will be held virtually via Advantage Intelligent Marketing and is open to the general public. The event will be moderated by Kenneth Coleman, LPC, PhD, Director Community Health, Ascension Michigan School-Based Health Centers and will include topics such as: Embracing Our Youth in Challenging Times, Warning Signs, Triggers: Crime, Bullying, Social Media, and Abuse, and Stigmas. The panelists will include James V. Jackson, Chief of Staff Southfield Public Schools addressing What's Happening with Our Youth Today, Dr. Jacqueline M. Stavros, LTU College of Business Professor & author of Conversations Worth Having, Southfield Police Department presenting Youth Triggers, Lathrup Village Police Department Officer Keith Roberts with Youth Warning Signs, and Ascension Mental Health Professional Darryl Allen presenting The Stigmas of Mental Health. The Optimist Club of Southfield-Lathrup Village is made up of local volunteers and community leaders and has serviced the communities of Southfield and Lathrup Village since May 8, 1979.
