City of Southfield to host Gun Violence Community Forum July 31

Five local law enforcement leaders will participate in a forum to address gun violence solutions in metro Detroit
The city of Southfield will host a Gun Violence Community Forum on Monday, July 31 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The forum will feature an insightful conversation between five local law enforcement leaders as they address ways to reduce gun violence and find solutions. Forum participants include:
- Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren
- Oak Park Police Director Steve Cooper
- Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King
- Wayne County Sheriff Raphael Washington
- Detroit Police Chief James White
“As we all know, gun violence continues to be a serious problem throughout the country,” commented Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren. “This forum is aimed at addressing this problem head on with candid discussions and practical solutions that are focused on achieving measurable results in reducing and ultimately ending gun violence throughout our communities.”
The forum will be moderated by former Channel 7 News Investigative Reporter Ronnie Dahl. The community is invited to participate in this roundtable discussion where the public will be encouraged to provide insight and ideas to resolve the problem of gun violence.
This event is sponsored by the city of Southfield, Shields Restaurant Bar Pizzeria, Sam’s Club, Meijer, Kroger, Captain Jay’s Fish & Chicken and Mom’s Demand Action, a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence.
