City of Southfield offers free Halloween candy screening
October 31, 2019
The city of Southfield Emergency Management Division will offer free Halloween candy screening on Thursday, October 31 from 6-9 p.m. at the Southfield Sports Arena, 26000 Evergreen Road. The recommended hours for trick-or-treating in Southfield are from 6-8 p.m.
“The city of Southfield is pleased to offer this valuable service free-of-charge to our community,” said Southfield Director of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness Justin Beck. “This is a convenient way to make sure your child’s Halloween bag is full of only treats and no tricks!”
The Southfield Fire Prevention Bureau will also be on hand passing out free nine-volt batteries for smoke detectors donated by Energizer while supplies last. Residents are reminded to change their smoke detector batteries twice a year when they change their clocks.
The candy screening will take place in the lobby of the ice arena. Parking is available in the front and back of the building. For more information, contact Southfield Emergency Management at (248) 796-5990.
