Southfield Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Task Force to announce ‘Freedom Ride’ fundraiser and AT&T $10,000 donation

What: The Southfield Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Task Force, Inc. will hold a press conference to announce the ‘Freedom Ride’ for middle and high school students through historical civil rights sites in Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama Georgia and Washington, D.C. this summer. AT&T will present the Task Force with an enlarged $10,000 check that will kick-off the fundraising campaign. These funds will allow approximately 40 students from various ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and schools throughout metro Detroit to participate in the Freedom Ride at no cost. Additionally, Southfield Public Schools will be recognized for a $2,500 donation in addition to State Representative Jeremy Moss for his support and assistance with the program. 

 

When: Monday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Who: Mayor Kenson Siver, Southfield City Council President Myron Frasier, State Representative Jeremy Moss, AT&T Executive Director of External Affairs Greg Clark, AT&T Director of External Affairs Robert Jones, Southfield Public Schools Superintendent Lynda Wood, MLK Task Force President Pat Haynie, Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce Tanya Markos-Vanno, and other prominent guests will be in attendance.
