Southfield Fire Department to host Open House September 10

The Southfield Fire Department will host an open house for the community on Sunday, September 10 from 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Fire Headquarters located at 24477 Lahser Road. The event will also commemorate the fire department’s 75th anniversary of serving and protecting the Southfield community since 1942. Parking will be available at Southfield A&T High School, 24675 Lahser Road.
The event will feature live demonstrations and displays including simulated fire suppression, emergency rescue techniques such as repelling, distracted driving simulator and an overview of fire trucks and equipment. The open house will also provide hands-on activities for children from operating a real firehose to experiencing superpower eyesight. Kids can also enjoy face painting, a bounce house and food for the whole family, including hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn, sno-cones and cotton candy.
“We invite the entire Southfield community to join us for our open house on September 10,” commented Fire Chief Menifee. “Not only will be commemorating our 75th anniversary, but there will be plenty of fun and educational activities for the entire family!”
