Southfield Fire Department to host Open House September 15

Free family event will feature two live shows, refreshments and flu shots
The Southfield Fire Department will host an open house for the community on Sunday, September 15 from 12-4 p.m. at Fire Headquarters located at 24477 Lahser Road. Parking will be available at Southfield A&T High School, 24675 Lahser Road.
The event will feature live demonstrations at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. as well as displays including simulated fire suppression, emergency rescue techniques such as repelling, distracted driving simulator and an overview of fire trucks and equipment. The open house will also provide hands-on activities for children from operating a real firehose to experiencing superpower eyesight. Kids can also enjoy face painting, a bounce house and refreshments, including popcorn, sno-cones, cotton candy and more.
The event will also include a Flu Vaccination Clinic sponsored by Alana’s Foundation in partnership with Michigan Community Visiting Nurse Association (VNA). Signed consent forms are required as well as insurance card information for those who have it. Alana’s Foundation will cover the cost of the shot for those without insurance.
