Southfield to host Veterans’ Day Ceremony November 9

Annual event honors service and sacrifice of military personnel
The city of Southfield will host the annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. in Council Chambers, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The City sponsors the annual event in partnership with the Southfield Veterans’ Commission to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of military personnel. The ceremony will begin with an invocation from Dr. Aaron Chapman, Pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church followed by remarks by Mayor Dr. Kenson Siver and Southfield Veterans’ Commission President Gerald Houston. The ceremony will also include a keynote address from Colonel Ravi Wagh, Assistant to the Adjutant General-Army for the Michigan Army National Guard (MIARNG); presentation of the National Anthem by soloist Rosemerry Allen; a bugle rendition of Taps played Paul Roach, Bugles Across America; and a 21-gun salute. The event will conclude with a benediction by Pastor Chapman followed by light refreshments.
