Southfield My Brother’s Keeper sponsors Tie with a Message tie drive for young men of color
March 24, 2017
The Southfield chapter of My Brother’s Keeper is sponsoring a Tie with a Message tie drive to collect ties and messages of encouragement for young men of color. New or gently used neckties and bowties can be dropped off at Southfield Human Services, 26000 Evergreen Road, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through April 20.
My Brother’s Keeper is asking that the community donate ties along with a note of encouragement or words of wisdom for local young men of color. Donors may include their name or remain anonymous. Ties donated will be dispersed to young men attending the Student Career/Job Fair at Southfield A&T High School on April 27. The job fair is open to Southfield A&T 11th and 12th grade students. Recipients will also have the opportunity to read the messages received on City Cable 15, the city of Southfield’s government channel.
For more information, contact JoAnne Gurley at (248) 796-4503 or Southfield Human Services at (248) 796-4542.
