Southfield Parks & Recreation presents Touch-a-Truck April 27
April 7, 2025
Southfield Touch-a-Truck returns once again on Sunday, April 27 from 1–4 p.m. at the Southfield Municipal Campus North Parking Lot, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The Southfield Parks & Recreation department invites kids of all ages to an exciting afternoon to get up close with the big rigs that keep the city safe and the streets clean. Explore the impressive vehicles that keep the city running—from massive semis, fire engines, and wreckers to police cruisers, snowplows, and more. Enjoy an interactive experience and sit in the driver’s seat and chat with the operators behind these powerful machines.
The first hour of the event, from 1-2 p.m., will be a Sensory Sensitive Hour. Enjoy a quieter experience with no flashing lights or loud noises and quiet zones away from the action. New this year, there will be a helicopter fly-by at 2:05 p.m. Don’t miss this exciting aerial highlight!
Visitors can see what it is like to sit in the driver’s seat of these big rigs and talk with the people who operate them. The Southfield Police Department will offer demonstrations of their drones as well as K9 division. The Southfield Fire Department will have a ladder truck, EMS/ambulance, and Smoke House on display as well their Tech Rescue and Hazmat operations. The Department of Public Works will bring out the big hitters including a road grader, bucket truck, and street sweeper. Special guests: Allied Construction, Old Dominion Freight Line, Quality Towing Service, Avis Ford, Michigan State Police, Lathrup Village Police, and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office will also showcase their work vehicles.
For food, The Mean Weenie, Sip N Sweets and Egg Roll Diva will have refreshments available for purchase.
