Southfield Parks & Recreation Summer Wine Down Concert featuring Alex Gross August 16 moved indoors to Pavilion

The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department will host the Summer Wine Down Concert featuring Alex Gross and Detroit Soul Rhythm Band on Friday, August 16 from 7-9 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.

This free indoor concert will feature live music, food trucks, a cash bar (for adults 21 and over only), and an assortment of local vendors. 

The Detroit Soul Rhythm Band performs a mix of R&B and Soul music from the 1970’s 1980’s & 1990’s. Founded in December 2013, the band performed their first gig at Floods Bar and Grill in Detroit. The band consists of band director Alex Gross and vocalist Artema Byrd. 

Alex Gross has over 30 years experience in the music industry. He is also band director at Triumph Church in Detroit, and the owner of Detroit Soul Rhythm Live Band Entertainment. Gross is a talented writer, arranger, producer and band director that plays several instruments including the piano, keyboard synth, Hammond organ, drums, and bass guitar.

Artema Byrd has over 20 years of experience in the music industry beginning as a child in her church choir. She has also been a vocalist for The Flexx Band in Detroit, the Al McKenzie Trio and a background singer for Yancyy. Byrd performed in many venues as a vocalist including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Jazz Café, Charles H. Wright Museum, Baker's Keyboard Lounge, The Palace of Auburn Hills, Greektown Casino, and many other venues in Detroit.
