Southfield Public Arts Commission to host Youth Art Show Opening Night Reception December 13
December 9, 2024
The Southfield Public Arts Commission, in partnership with Orchards Children’s Services, will sponsor a Youth Art Show & Opening Night Reception on Friday, December 13 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The Youth Art show will feature a variety of artwork and mediums created by the youth from Orchards Children’s Services. This event will be a showcase of the creative talents of youth in Orchards’ care and community, providing a powerful example of the creativity and wonder that lies within each child. Through art, they have found a voice, a sense of empowerment, and a path to growth and discovery.
Orchards Children’s Services strengthens our community by empowering children and families to achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency in safe and caring environments through quality programs and services, including family preservation, foster care, foster care supportive visitation, adoption, post adoption resources, Orchard’s Promise scholarships, mental and behavioral health counseling and more. Orchards serves the entire state of Michigan, with offices located in Oakland, Wayne, Genesee, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties.
Orchards Children’s Services is one of the largest child welfare agencies in the state of Michigan, founded in 1962 by the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Greater Detroit Section. Orchards started as a small residential group home for 7 boys with emotional impairments. Today, Orchards Children’s Services serves over 8,000 children throughout 15 counties in the state of Michigan. We are dedicated to fulfilling our mission of strengthening the community through quality services to children and families.
We believe in engaging individuals in planning for their own future, and with the support of our programs many of our families are successful. By working in partnership with parents, relatives, foster parents and youth in their households and communities, we empower families to achieve stability and long-term self-sufficiency.
