Southfield Police Department to host 10-week Citizen Police Academy beginning September 5

The Southfield Police Department will be hosting its sixth Citizen Police Academy and is looking for residents who are interested in becoming active participants with the police department to keep Southfield safe and secure. The police department will discuss and offer information, tips, and demonstrations on the following topics:

  • Crime scene processing;
  • Patrol operations;
  • Crime prevention, including identity theft, personal safety, and home security;
  • Demonstrations from the K-9 team; and
  • Narcotics enforcement.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 10-week program that will offered during the fall of 2017. Classes begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 and will continue weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The Citizen Police Academy is free to participants and will be held at the Southfield Police Department, 26000 Evergreen Road.
 

Applications must be received by the police department no later than Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Space is limited.

 

Potential candidates for the Citizen Police Academy must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old;
  • Live or work in Southfield or Lathrup Village; and
  • Pass a criminal background check.
