Fox 2 reporter Josh Landon will host My Brother’s Keeper- Southfield Chapter’s (MBK) “Celebrate Summer: Safely & Successfully” program on Saturday, June 10, from 9 -11:30 a.m. in the Southfield P&R Building located at 26000 Evergreen Road.

The event is geared toward young men of color in grades 6-12 attending Southfield schools and their parents to inform them of how decisions can have long-term effects. The Southfield Police and Fire Departments, along with legal professionals will discuss topics like cyber bullying, domestic violence, retail crimes, careless driving and firework safety, as well as underage drinking and drug use.

What can teens do to have a successful summer? Participants will learn about healthy habits, such as exercising without a gym membership, keeping the mind active during summer and easy ways to eat and cook nutritiously.

The program will end with a “Success Circle” where the young men will gather together by grade to create a series of connecting circles on the front lawn of Southfield City Hall for a group picture. Men, age 25 and older, are invited to be a part of the “Success Circle.” Pizza will be served following the group picture.
