Southfield P&R to host Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers February 28 as part of Black History Month Celebration

Southfield Parks & Recreation Department will host Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers as part of Southfield Celebrates Black History Month on Friday, February 28 in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.

A pre-glow will take place from 6-6:45 p.m. to visit with some of the area’s best storytellers and musicians prior to the performances from 7-9 p.m. General Admission tickets are $10 per person and are available for purchase at the Parks & Recreation Information Desk located inside the Parks & Recreation Building.

The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers will be presenting the show Reparation hosted by Satori Shakoor and featuring performances by RicanStruction, Kerry Leon Jackson, Judge Wade McCree, Darrell Siggers, Kim Trent and Charles Martin. Be sure to browse the Storytellers Marketplace before the show or during intermission. There will also be a cash bar and food available for purchase.

The Southfield Parks & Recreation Department is presenting a number of special programs this February as part of ‘Southfield Celebrates Black History Month’ to remember the contributions and celebrate the history of African-Americans. The month-long celebration included the Southfield Celebrates Black History Month’ kick-off event on February 1; Black History Movie Night on February 7 featuring the documentary 13th; the new Conversations & Cocktails event on February 15; Between the Lines Coloring Café featuring Naturally ILLustraded on February 22; and concluding on February 28 with the return of The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers event.
