The Southfield Parks and Garden Club (SPGC) will host a Community Garden Walk on Saturday, August 27 from 1-4 p.m. at the Mary Thompson Farm, 25630 Evergreen Road.
The Parks & Garden Club invite the community to come and see the garden plots that Southfield residents have put together and the many different ways that they grow a wide variety of vegetables, plants and flowers. Attendees are requested to stay on the grass paths and to refrain from entering the garden plots or taking anything out of them as they are all privately owned. The Mary Thompson Farmhouse will also be open throughout the event with free tours hosted by the Southfield Historical Society.
The Southfield Parks and Garden Club (SP&GC) is also seeking volunteers to assist with the Emmanuel Community Farm and the Club’s many other community service and beautification activities. The Southfield Parks and Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to keeping Southfield beautiful. The all-volunteer group concentrates on litter pickups, planting flowers for the city and local schools and maintaining the Emmanuel Community Farm.
