The City of Southfield also boasts entertainment options for the entire family – with more than 800 acres of parks and a public golf course – recreational activities abound for all ages and interests. The Southfield Municipal Campus is home to the Miracle League Field of Dreams, Michigan's first baseball field for children with a physical or mental disability as well as the Southfield Sports Arena (ice rink), Evergreen Hills 9-hole golf course, Evergreen Woods Nature Trail, the 25,000-square-foot Southfield Pavilion, and the state-of-the-art Southfield Public Library featuring three floors of beautiful architecture and more than 280,000 books, magazines, CD’s, DVD’s and other media.

Southfield’s recreational opportunities are as diverse as its population: with over 20 beautiful parks and nature preserves to world-class arts and entertainment programs and events — Southfield truly offers something for everyone! Parks are open year-round from dawn to dusk with no park entrance fees. Here are just a few of the many great places, activities and events that are sure to make your Southfield Staycation a memorable one!

Park West Gallery is a world-class art gallery and museum that is free and open to the public for shows, sales and auctions in a Greco-Roman space featuring both contemporary and established works and artists. Visitors can browse Park West’s private collections of original works by world-renowned artists such as Picasso, Rembrandt, Dalí, Renoir, and many more at 29469 Northwestern Highway. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve features several miles of beautiful nature trails with interpretive signage and trailheads, numerous benches and easily-accessible fishing and viewing platforms. It is located on Ten Mile Road just east of Inkster Road.

Play a round of golf at Evergreen Hills Golf Course or sharpen your skills at Beech Woods Driving Range, and while you’re at it, check out Beech Woods Recreation Center!

Burgh Historical Park is the City’s most important historical property featuring eight acres of beautiful flower gardens and fountains located at the northeast corner of Civic Center Drive & Berg Road.

Explore Southfield’s growing downtown the Southfield City Centre and visit the Donald F. Fracassi Municipal Campus while you’re there to check out the beautiful landscaping, public art installations, tennis courts, nature trails and many other amenities.

Spend an afternoon at the Southfield Public Library and find something new to read or watch in addition to discovering unique spaces throughout from the fantastic children’s areas to the Southfield History Room.

Visit one of Southfield’s many great restaurants offering the best in Asian, Italian, Ethiopian, Soul, Middle Eastern, Jewish and continental cuisine.

Check out the 9th annual Southfield Photo Prize exhibition on display at city hall from June 12 – September 1, 2025 as well as Southfield’s many new public art installations throughout the city.

Take in a concert at one of Southfield’s many summer series from the Eat to the Beat lunchtime food truck concerts the 2nd Thursday each month to the 10th Annual Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival taking place on the municipal campus front lawn August 8-9!
