Ice skating or other activity on Carpenter Lake STRICTLY PROHIBITED at all times!

There have been recent reports of residents attempting to ice skate or walk on Carpenter Lake. Please be advised that this STRICTLY PROHIBTED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! The ice at Carpenter Lake is unsafe and poses a serious risk to anyone attempting to walk or ice skate on it. Even if the ice looks solid, appearances are deceiving and at no time is this a safe practice. According to ice safety experts, ice needs to be at least 4 inches thick to support a person's weight, and thickness can vary dramatically within just a few feet. The recent temperature fluctuations have made ice conditions particularly dangerous!

Please stay on the marked trails only at all times to safely enjoy this beautiful preserve!
