Beech Woods Recreation Center

The Beech Woods Recreation Center features 17,000 square feet of gymnasium space. The Center has the capability to run three collegiate basketball games simultaneously. If volleyball is more your game, the gym has the ability to run four volleyball games at once.

Beech Woods hosts several Southfield Parks & Recreation programs including youth basketball leagues, Open Gym hours for adults and children throughout the week, and senior adult programs including bounce volleyball, tennis, and pickleball. For more information on our basketball leagues please contact the Beech Woods Recreation center office at (248) 796-4670.

Youth Open Gym (Ages 9-13)
Join us at Beech Woods Recreation Center for Youth Open Gym, Monday through Friday from 3:30–5:30 pm.
Daily Fee: $3 (Southfield residents), $5 (non-residents).

All participants must register for the 2024/25 season during their first visit, with a parent or guardian present for sign-in every visit. Limited to 45 participants per day. Call (248) 796-4670 for more details. 

Southfield Sports Arena

The Southfield Sports Arena (located on the grounds of the Southfield Municipal Campus at 26000 Evergreen Road) is a multi-use complex with a regulation NHL ice surface. The rink is the home to the Detroit Country Day High School hockey team and the site of weekly Open Skate, Sticks & Pucks, and Learn to Skate programs open to the public. There are vending machines on site providing refreshments. Call (248) 796-4640 for more information.

Head to the Southfield Sports Arena for Weekday Open Skate and burn up to 670 calories in just 30 minutes! Ice skating is not only a fantastic aerobic workout but also strengthens your glutes, abs, and tones your legs.
Weekday Open Skate happens Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:00 - 1:20 PM.
Entry is only $4 per person, and skate rentals are available for $3.

🏒 Join us for Sticks & Pucks during the week!
Practice your skating, puck handling, and shooting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 - 11:50 AM.
Open to ages 18+ (helmets required), admission is $8 per person.

🏒 It’s time for Sticks & Pucks at Southfield Sports Arena!
Hockey players ages 18+ can hit the ice to sharpen their skills each Sunday from 12 - 1:20 pm. Spaces are limited to the first 20 people, so be sure to register early! Don’t forget – helmets are a must for all participants. 🏒🥅

P&R Building & Southfield Pavilion

The Parks & Recreation Building is located at the north end of the Southfield Municipal Complex (26000 Evergreen Road). The building houses the main Parks & Recreation offices, the main Information Desk where program registration takes place for numerous classes including dance, aerobic and art classes and is the location of the Senior Services offices and many of their activities. Many of the rooms in the Parks & Recreation Building are also available for rental.

The Southfield Pavilion, located within the Southfield Municipal Complex at 26000 Evergreen Road, has hosted conferences for over 2,000 people to trade shows featuring over 170 (8 x 8) exhibition booths. Break out space is available in five additional rooms located in the Parks & Recreation Building. Free parking for over 1,200 vehicles, as well as quick access to major area freeways such as M-10 (Lodge), I-696 and the Southfield Freeway, make it easy for your attendees to find your event. The Southfield Pavilion is available for rental. Please refer to the Rental Opportunities section of this website for specific details.

Burgh Historical Park

The Burgh Historical Park is one of Southfield’s hidden gems. Located on the northeast corner of Civic Center Drive and Berg Road the park features renovated turn of the century buildings nestled within beautiful manicured lawns and abundant flower gardens offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Gazebo Concert Series
Held each year at the Gazebo at the Burgh Historical Park, these concerts have become a staple of the summer season, not only for Southfield, but for Oakland County.

Please note: the Burgh Historical Park and it's buildings are no longer available for rental.

Parks & Recreation Senior Services

The Senior Services office remains closed to the public but you can register for Senior Services programs at the Parks & Recreation Information Desk Window inside the Southfield Pavilion, Monday-Friday from 9 am - 5 pm. You can also call Senior Services at (248) 796-4650, Monday-Thursday 9 am - 4 pm and Friday, 9 am - 2 pm.

The Parks & Recreation Senior Services (formerly known as the Adult Recreation Center 50+) offices are located within the Parks & Recreation Building at 26000 Evergreen Road. Senior Services offer comprehensive programs including classes, trips, nutrition and outreach programs, and a variety of other services. Some of the most popular offerings include monthly casino and luncheon trips, and various athletic leagues including golf and bounce volleyball. Many of these activities allow seniors the opportunity to participate in athletic competitions at both the city and county level.
